E. O'Nill

American gothic diptych

Translated by Vladimir Rogov

Director: Lev Shekhtman (USA)

It is one of the most popular American classical plays by the American playwright Eugene O'Nill.

The value of the performance is underlined by the scene design of the Laureate of the State prize of the RF Stanislav Shalovsky, the dynamic choreographic work of the Laureate of the "Golden Mask", the Honored Master of Arts of the RF Sergey Gritsay and music of Vladimir Bruss. According to the genre of the performance the director Lev Shekhtman meant the association of rude customs of Puritan farmers with the Middle Ages. The merger with the nature in the story is not beneficial as there is a threat of profanation because of a hard impoverished life. At the end of the play the purifying Heaven's wrath gives the expected catharsis...

The performance is loved by spectators and deserves the best reviews of critics.
